Put 2 track days on the Dunlop Q2's. Just talking about them and how they performed at the track. Managed to do at least 2 laps on VIR North Course in the 1:45's so that was nice.

Edit-I have since learned from some buddies on my FZ forum that have ran these tires that they have agreed that the best hot pressure for these are 33 PSI front and rear gave them best performance.

  • 190/55 rear? a completely different bike! original is 190/50!

  • @fabmao22 Why would it be a completely different bike, because I use a 190/55 rear and not the "original" 190/50? Stupid assumption imo.

  • @Pittimus84 I agree with your choice in full. I really like the choice of 190/55! profile more pointed and more contact to the ground, slightly higher in the back with a more load on the front! Unfortunately, 55 is not approved for use on the road! : (

  • @fabmao22 Where do you live to where a 190/55 is not approved for road use? Everyday all day where I live.

  • @Pittimus84 I live in Italy. Unfortunately, the registration certificate, the motorcycle is approved only with the 190/50 ... But with around 55, say they are an "outlawed"! ih ih ih

  • @fabmao22 WOW, how does that happen in the land of Valentino Rossi. Well in the US you can run a huge range of tires and sizes on the street that are totally legal.

  • btw i agree that DOT's are a waste if you aren't fast enough to keep the heat into these tires, they're quite slippery if they're not up to temp, most newbie track riders believe that they'll lap quicker if they use one of these on their bike, they're only kidding themselves, they also forget the importance of suspension tuning to get more grip & life out of their tires, they think that engine mods that improve hp will lower their lap times. LOL

  • the front still feels quite vague to me, i'm not getting as much heat into the front tire as i'm still dialing in the forks & the stiffer carcass of the BT003 isn't helping in getting a quick warm up, when i get back to the track i'm going to focus on tuning the forks to get more load over the front, i slid the front tire a couple of times during corner entry on different sessions, didn't spook me but it kind of dampened my confidence a bit but the rear is amazing when i got the shock dialed in.

  • then i tried the Power Pures, way better than the Power Race, loads of grip even when the track was wet, i even raced them in the rain & won, great front tire especially if you trailbrake a lot. now i am testing BT003 DOT race tires, running T3 front & T2 rear, this is my first time using Bridgestones on my bike, i have rebuilt my forks with Ohlins springs & DIY fork valving, running a WP 4618 race shock which are awesome, when the rear tire gets hot the grip is fantastic but.....

  • wish i could try those Q2's on my 600RR i bet they're fantastic, i have been running Pilot Powers (not 2CT) ever since i started doing trackdays & they were a tire which helped me learn to develop throttle control skills as they are so easy to slide when you roll on too aggressively on corner exits, after 4yrs i moved up to the Power Race (not the race version) just to try it & see how it feels like, good rubber but it doesn't give much feedback or predictability so i was afraid to push it.

  • why switch back to Bridgestone if you already have the Q2 installed, you just gonna mess up the geometry of your bike.

  • @Pittimus84 Even here in Italy there are many tires 190/55 approved. Motorcycles as R1, S1000RR, 1198, ZX10R, etc ... are approved with the 190/55. But with motorcycles as a naked FZ1, Z1000, CB1000R approval applies only to 190/50. How sad! Luck is here that the police will control only the consumption but not the size. Therefore mounting the 55! ;)
