You could fish in New Zealand for 10 lifetimes and not see a rainbow trout this big let alone catch one of this size - I happened to be in the right place at the right time!

  • Holy gaucamole, fantastic. Nice release as well!

  • I commend you for the catch and release, fine job mate!

  • Dead as a dodo

  • respect to the fisherman. not only was he able to keep it on when it hit the current, but his after catch etiquette was exemplary. A true sportsman freezes his ass off in the river until he knows the fish is ready to go.

  • Great fish Simon. Only just stumbled on this after seeing it on your website years ago.

Hope your season went well this time and you have some good snow. Will look you up for sure next time I make it to Qtown. All the best

  • Catching a fish that big is pretty hard, but what is ever more hard is letting it go. I give you my respect.

  • good sport man-did fish recover as did not quite see it swim away-these are the big hen-fish which produce thousands of eggs on spawning, so best put back

-i take rainbow trout for "pot" from 2lbs -4lbs maximum

    -great sport, well done!

  • Grande fish!! Wish there was a closer shot of it.

  • Best part is that you catch and release rock on.

  • Awesome fish! Congrats on letting it go.
