1972 Corvette Convertible Stock #2220P Red exterior, code correct Black leather interior, Black convertible top, vinyl-covered auxiliary hardtop. 240hp 350ci engine, automatic transmission, posi rear-end. Originally assembled on January 19, 1972, this locally-owned, ONE OWNER survivor 1972 Corvette Convertible has seen better days cosmetically, but has TONS of potential as it is LOADED with factory options, and runs and drives with cold air conditioning. Paint on this car looks to be relatively old, and is in overall poor condition with little shine, plenty of stress cracks, and factory bonding strips showing through. Original exterior color code is 987. With the exception of the windshield, all glass in this car including the hardtop shows a correct date code. Although we have not yet removed the hardtop to check, we suspect that the convertible top will need to be replaced as well. Auxiliary hardtop is in very good condition; original weatherstripping is rotted and in poor condition. Both original exterior door handles show sagging return springs, and are in overall poor condition, although they are both operable. Original chrome bumpers show plenty of patina and a few rust spots; two out of the four taillights are cracked. This 1972 Corvette Convertible wears rally wheels in fair condition, with fair condition trim rings and center caps. Tires are outlined white letter radials with 8/32nds tread remaining. The interior of this car shows poor condition factory leather seat covers, door panels, carpet, and center console. Steering wheel is in good condition; dash pad shows a crack on the speaker grille, but is in otherwise good condition; gauges show some very minor fading and relatively clear lenses. Clock is in working condition at the time of this write-up, and GM seatbelts are in place as well. Original AM/FM radio is also present. Although the original engine was not kept, a new 350ci GM "Targetmaster" crate engine was installed in 1990, with just 11,000 miles put on the car since then. Intake manifold and alternator show correct casting numbers; a Holley Quadrajet Replacement carburetor has taken the place of the original Quadrajet. Recent work includes a new starter motor, fuel tank and sending unit, brake calipers and pads, brake master cylinder and booster, tachometer cable and gears, and air conditioning service. Included documents consist of a Corvette America assembly manual, a few old repair invoices from 1989-90, and a letter from the original owner with a brief history of the car. Although the title states mileage as exempt for this car, the original owner claims it has 113,560 original miles. Frame is solid. We frequently have requests for early C3 project cars, but they are becoming very difficult to find -- call us now before this one becomes a two owner car! Factory features include air conditioning, deluxe interior, auxiliary hardtop, vinyl covering for auxiliary hardtop, power steering, power brakes, alarm, AM/FM radio, automatic transmission.
