The End of the American Dream - Militainment

While innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan are killed, maimed, and traumatised for life by American bombs, the average American sits on his sofa eating potato chips, waves the flag, and enjoys the show of American power on the various corporate media channels that glorify war, indulge in lies, censor reality and provide endless hours of militainment so that the arms industry's order books remain full, the American people scared but proud (of what only heaven knows!) and so that corrupt politicians can get re-elected by rallying the country behind them in a time of war. War has become entertainment for Americans: nicely packaged of course, not too much blood and guts. The truth of war, however, remains hidden: the wholesale slaughter of innocent civilians, torture, humiliation, destruction, death...and when someone does bring the truth to public attention such as Julian Assange has done, he is immediately vilified and decried as - wait for it - a war criminal and enemy of state! There is nothing worse than the truth for the corrupt and ignorant. Once Assange's dead, we can return to business as usual and watch our next invasion show. Who will it be this time? Venezuela? We've got to increase the profits for the oil companies after all. Any lie will do as a reason to invade. It worked last time...

makes me want to stand up in a mall and scream at the top of my lungs to wake up and see the world for what it is! Pull your heads out and own up to what is really happening out there, beyond your cozy house in the burbs, beyond your MTV and Call of Duty...... Why are we so easy to fleece.... it's because owning up to what is really going on is not fun and would force us to change our ways...
