@Antari0424 Koro is very selfish when it comes to protecting the tribal laws and when she fixes the rope it showed her tie back her "ancestors" as one rope to be strong and whole. its quite complected and confusing

@brandizzle2370 - the grandaughter was more interested in the old ways than any other young person in their tribe. The only 'change' was that she was a girl.

pai is the next person meant to be chief. koro refuses to allow a girl to do so, and thats why the rope breaks. her tying it together signifies that she is, in fact the next meant to lead. he was upset because he refuses to believe it. he's afraid of changing the old ways.
