Cecil McDonald, Jr. uses photography to create images that seek to relocate our understanding of the relationships that emanate from the domestic space. He received his MFA from Columbia College Chicago and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member there and a teaching artist at the Center for Community Arts Partnership at Columbia College Chicago. His work has been exhibited both nationally and internationally, with works in the permanent collection of The Cleveland Museum of Art, The Joyce Foundation, and the Harris Bank Collection. He was awarded the Illinois Consortium for Educational Opportunity Program Fellow, the Joyce Foundation Midwest Voices & Visions Award, the Artadia Award, and the Albert P. Weisman Award. McDonald is represented by the Catherine Edelman Gallery in Chicago where he resides with his wife Sandee L. McDonald and their three daughters.
