This Canadian military SAR Cormorant helicopter was approaching St. Joseph's ER helipad. It along with a couple of others is based at 19 Wing Comox. The SAR Aircraft are from 442 Squadron.
Unfortunately the clip was cut short as the rotor wash flipped my already lowered ambulance cot. I had to ensure it did'nt get damaged as it was needed to transport the pt into the ER from the helipad.

  • I have a model of that

  • p@JasonHoel . It's a really decent diecast model and Priced well too!

  • @911caddy not really, from what i have seen in doc's and read, it takes 2 hours to prepare this piece of shit to fly. The tail cracking huge problem too. Canada SAR response times compared to the world... its not even on the chart, one of our off shore oil rigs has a privately contrasted SAR team on standby who have higher response standards then what our government has. Respect to the men and women who have to work with shit equipment but i hope a SAR version of the cyclone comes..

  • @Baseshocks ..Seriously? 2 hours before they can leave on a SAR mission?! That is crazy!

  • @911caddy Got to fucking love the Liberals, I do not think they bought any piece of kit that works... The Subs, Cormorant, and even bought the Cyclone with all its delays. Conservatives purchased The EH-101 military version that is widespread in Europe in the 90's 50 of them for SAR and as a Sea King replacement. Liberals canceled. By the way the Cyclone is a Civilian chopper too, converted for the military. Conservatives constantly changed the specs making the thing more robust.

  • @911caddy Ya... i am not a huge fan of CBC... but they had a Tech guy come on and interviewed him for saying what shit they aircraft are... he was dismissed from the military for voicing his concerns. They noted a few deaths that occurred because it took too long to get the chopper ready. The off shore oil rig that lost a chopper now has a private SAR team ready to assists 30 min's after the call. Oil rig team 30 min to prepare bird... CF 2 hours... now that's BS....

  • Can't believe you didn't film the best part.

  • Touched down, opened it's ramp and door and off loaded or loaded it's patient(if it had one)

  • id have loved to see what the heli did after the video ended??!!!!!!!!
