@loimu2b The other two burgers were the Mushroom & Swiss and Super Shef (which wasn't new -- it was similar to a Whopper), and there was a chicken sandwich (Chicken Shef?) on the same bun. Top Shef and Super Shef were already on the menu but the buns were changed from traditional sesame seed to what you see in the commercial and the patties went from large and flat to small and thick. I was in high school working at a BC in Mishawaka, Indiana at this time. Thanks for posting!

Virgin: "...with Bacon!"

OMG, I haven't heard of a Burger Chef in years. I won a Halloween costume contest there when I was a kid in the 70s. The prize was 20 silver dollars (not real silver, lol).

Someone should start a cable channel dedicated to showing 1980s commercials.
There were a series of these 1981-2 commercials to commemorate the introduction of "the big new burgers" and other new sandwiches. They all had the same characters, theme, and score to excite customers into coming in to buy the improved sandwiches. It was a brilliant campaign. The sandwiches were great and looked very much like they actually did on the TV spots.Too bad General Foods was sweetening up the pot for a fire-sale of Burger Chef to whoever would buy the chain.

@loimu2b But in 1982-1983 Burger Chef sold the chain to Hardee's.
