@boomerang and Macj - I am from Detroit and I love Motown, but Motown had that massive marketing machine, The Chicago sound is 2nd to none. You can hear their influence on a lot of early Motown, particularly the Temps' "The Girls Alright". I hear Curtis all in that one. And don't forget Maurice and the Radiants.

@ boomerang. Don't forget Jan Bradley, Sam Cooke, "The Iceman", Jerry Butler as well! we had it all going on back there on south Michigan Ave!

@MACJO63 You got that right! I don't even think people know how good we really were and are, I mean we did produce Quincy Jones and Herbie Hancock too. And our style of music? Hey, we invited swag and cool! I'm born and bread so I know! Don't get me started on that cool, sharp Major Lance whom I witnessed at the old Regal Theater on 47th. He jammed. I am so sorry he's gone. I miss Mr. Curtis like crazy and am glad that Mr. Chandler is hanging in there! : )

@boomerang905 Agreed, boom..I'm from Chi-Town as well, and these guys were part of the scene right there with Major Lance, Gene Chandler, & Curtis Mayfieldd....Fucking Chicago Legends.....

I really like how everybody is liking this. I'm from Chi-town (hollah) and this was a hit there. Good to dance off, great beat, great rhythm. These dudes were too good for that period though because music was sort of taking a turn away from DooWop which had been the music of those times. But hey, you guys share my same sentiments! Great music. Great talent!

@doowopper1951 Wow, you were in the mix. Sounds like an exciting time. I came of age in 1965 and I know the climate at that time. It was a thrilling time to come of age! : )
-
@charleyit I was a little older than you were at the time but you are actually right. Music had taken a different turn with the more psychodelic sounds but this was rocking and they were excellent singers. DooWops were considered on their way out....but I had enjoyed these kinds of sounds all my life. I still do.

Ah one of the prominent songs during my coming of age period. I was 15, I remember this as being one of the last Do Wop songs. It was also an anthem for street corner singers
