from cnn: A few weeks before 13-year-old Jonathan King killed himself, he told his parents that his teachers had put him in "time-out." ... But time-out in the boy's north Georgia special education school was spent in something akin to a prison cell -- a concrete room latched from the outside, its tiny window obscured by a piece of paper. Called a seclusion room, it's where in November 2004, Jonathan hanged himself with a cord a teacher gave him to hold up his pants.

  • They take the shoes away so they can't use the laces to hang themself. That is why they take their belt away too. Something is very wrong with this story.

  • Yes it does at the school I used to go! Whenever the kids doesn't want to follow the rules! The teacher put the children at the seclusion room. I know it's kind of odd that schools have jail cells at school. Every time, I go to music class, I hear kids screaming getting restraints with huge men in the jail cells at the school.

  • It is to protect other students from aggressive students, to isolate and calm them. If you have never worked mentally ill children its impossible to understand. Its not a jail cell but a seclusion room. However the room should be ABSOULUTELY clear of other objects and items....least of all a freakin rope. The school in this case should be held fully responsible. Student are to be montiored every second while in room. you can learn more at your state's special ed website

  • @nucsol I like your way of thinking

  • I rember the room we were stuck in the rightsize kid could have knocked it over.. it was scared half time or pissed I was there

  • @davidjain918 The kids not following the rules doesn't mean they deserve such horrid abusive treatment.

  • @davidjain918 you prolly should notify someone in the media or the government about that, it can be considered inhumane and the parties responsible could be looking at major time in the slammer.

  • I can assure you I would not be crying on TV. I'd be breaking some one into tiny little pieces. If my son was found dead, with a rope around his neck, in a secluded room, in a school, surrounded by abusive apes I would be making a real mess. They would pray for death before I was done with them, can you say disappear without a trace?

  • Correction:"Named Jon Taylor Gatto".

  • @KamzGDX

Thats what school is.....it's massive social conditioning.Check out a dude maned Jon Taylor Gatto

This is where people are taught the radical extremist views of "statism"-and call it "Liberty".

  • All of these coward parents make me sick. The "State" takes everything in this world from you including human life-AND YOU COME ON TV and cry about it?

Grow a pair,NOW IS THE TIME FOR ACTION....

  • Sorry, but school system sounds a little.. ya know.. f***** up there.
