Public works crews apply brine salt mixture to roads

On Sunday and also today (Monday, January 10, 2011), Chapel Hill Public Works crews have worked to apply salt brine, a mixture of salt and water, on the roadway surface of primary and major secondary streets of town. Pre-treating the roadways with brine will help melt snow and ice and reduce the total amount of accumulation. Landscape crews also applied salt brine to downtown sidewalks on the main block of Franklin Street and on Columbia Street from Rosemary Street to Cameron Avenue, as well as steps and driveways of key Town facilities.
