Video is from 2007. Both of us were built and tuned by the same shop/tuner and on the same dyno. Both of us at the time dyno'd 490whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno at roughly the same boost. Pump gas.

My car is a Greddy TT, his is a big turbo JWT 850 kit. The owner of the grey Z and the shop owner/tuner both thought he would pull me up top.

He drove from NC to MD for a friendly run. Props to "L" for doing that.

Clearly you see two things. Midrange on a properly setup Greddy car is not to be fucked with. Neither car was brake boosting.

Driver mod even from a roll makes a big difference. After the runs we switched cars and you can clearly see I was able to stay within 1 car length where as in our own cars it wasnt even close.

Some driving lessons the next morning and "L" was MUCH better off. He eventually spun to 11.1 @ 133mph at a higher boost.

Good times!!!!!!

  • how long is a highly tuned (twin turbo maybe) engine expected to last?

  • Depending on how you drive it, I would say you would be EXTREMELY lucky to reach 30,000 miles

  • holy shit seriously? no matter the boost that its running?

  • In my case I feel like 30,000 would be crazy to hit on a built setup. I am hard on the car I drove it for what I built it for, to have fun.

Others MAY go 30K on a built motor I dont think I ever will. I have 3100 miles on the new motor now, its almost dead!

    j/k Hopefully not...

  • with all that horsepower and running it like crazy, especially that co-worker clip, does the engine ever seem to have problems or had to replace or rebuild anything? kinda heard these cars have bullet proof engines... are they that consistent?

  • This video was my first built motor. It lasted 9000 freaking miles. The co-worker clip is a new motor and makes 605whp @ 13psi, compared to 525whp @ 13psi in this video. I changed cams, engine management and tuners. No engine is bulletproof, especially when you have somebody that actually drives the car for what it was built for.
