Major Dylan "HABU" Thorpe flies a GREAT demonstration with the A-10 over the skies of NAS Pensacola - the first time I've seen an A-10 demonstration at NAS Pensacola in the years I've gone to the show. Following the demonstration, he joined up with Lee Lauderback flying the P-51D Mustang "Crazy Horse 2" for a fantastic Heritage Flight. Check out Lee's takeoff in the beginning!!

@CJCA915 astein1912 answered half of your question. It is indeed a private company setting off the pyro charges on the ground. The demo team uses a pre-recorded sound effect of the gun firing as part of the show narration. If the gun was actually fired, you'd see some white smoke coming from the nose of the plane.
