HM consented to award Masters Degrees, First Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates

A total of 1 thousand 241 students received their masters degrees, first degrees, diplomas and certificates. His Majesty consented to present these awards to all recipients.

Upon arrival, His Majesty who is also the Chancellor of UBD was greeted by the Minister of Education, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Rahman and Vice Chancellor of UBD, Doctor Haji Zulkarnain bin Haji Hanafi.

In his welcoming remarks, the UBD Vice Chancellor touched on the various achievements made by UBD as well as its development and measures taken to date. These include the redesigning of all basic degree programmes called GenNext: a programme for the new generation.The Vice-Chancellor said that every programme encourages cross-discipline teaching and learning that is broadbase and students centric. The programme is aspired to produce intellectuals who posses multi knowledge backgrounds and skills and not merely focussed on a single academic discipline.

His Majesty consented to award Masters degrees, Bachelors degrees, diplomas and certificates to one thousand two hundred and forty-one recipients.

From the number of todays recipients, 89 received masters degrees in various fields including Business administration, public policy and Health Management. Seven hundred and twenty-one students received Bachelor degrees in science, literature, Arabic language, Usuluddin, Suariah and education. 431 students received diplomas and certificates. Seventeen graduates were awarded first class honours.

As of January next year, UBD will offer a new programme called unibridge for those students who do not fulfill the normal entry qualifications for GenNext programmes and this would further broaden UBD access feeder for those interested in furthering their education to a higher level. On research, UBD has established several research clusters including those on the environment and sustainable development, science technology and society and material research clusters. UBD is also joining hands with international universities in research and education related to global issues such as climate change and sustainable development. On research outcomes, UBD will form an innovation and business office to function in guaranteeing protection of all copyrights on research results by UBD staff members.

Doa selamat was read by the State Mufti, Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

Recipients bring to more than twelve thousand the total number of graduates produced by UBD since its establishment, and this reflects its strong commitment in continuously producing a generation of intellectuals in the country.
