Yeah the tempo is too slow for me the song sounds a bit on the depressing side. Also where's that echoing sound from the guitar after the chorus. Just doesn't have that reggae flavor that made the song for me.

It is really slow but still the catchy and erotic atmosphere of the song has remained, I think!

probably since he has aged 20 yrs. since the song was released, his vocal range has dropped.
same thing happened to Robert Plante at the Led Zeppelin reunion.
