  • The student isn't yelling, he's right on top of the microphone. They (student and his regular teacher) had no problem hearing Jeffrey.

Unfortunately, the way they recorded the session, the mic didn't pick up Jeffrey's side very well.

  • I think this is great! Never mind the sound problem. Mr. Biegel, could you show how you practise those streching exercises or Hanon... :)

  • There was no sense of separation or distance. I could see fingering, phrasing, and make suggestions to improve the performance. Teaching stretching exercises was simple enough, to gain more finger strength. I could easily improve the quality of sound just by watching how it is produced, by the arms, wrists etc. For me, this is a wonderful way to teach people when they cannot travel to you.

  • It was one of the most natural lessons, and I found it easy to make corrections, suggestions as though he were in the same room. Sound was never an issue. I could fix fingerings, phrasing, tempi, rhythm, and suggest how to get the sound the student was looking for. I also taught special stretching exercises to strengthen the fingers, and discuss 'how' to study properly. There was no sense of distance nor separation.

  • The mic we used to talk to Jeffrey from our end had to be turned down so the piano could be heard at a decent level. We had to speak up a little bit, but it's nothing close to yelling.

  • Jeffrey can not only see the whole keyboard, but can see my whole person at the keyboard. He was able to see an incorrect fingering in thirds instantly (I had been using the fingerings in the my Schimer Edition). I put the camera pretty far away from the computer , as I wanted to catch some of both grands. This made Jeffrey's sound not catch so well on the recording, BUT, both my teacher and I heard him almost all the time.

  • what happens when the student needs physical adjustments by the teacher - his hands, arms, back, shoulders? (The student here is yelling and the teacher cannot be heard.) This might only work for emergency lessons, how can they hear the quality of tone?
