@456iogear The Mac operating system is not a big as Windows so you don't need as nice specs to run it. And who uses Linux anyway, seriously?

No, the Mini does not worth. With the money it costs you can actually get a very good PC.

Apple only sells crappy and obsolete hardware lacking basic features like Bluray, USB3 or OpenGL 4.2.

My friend got a mac mini from his dad, and it was kinda crappy. Granted, it did only have Tiger, but it couldn't run much.

Good advice, thanks. I was considering one, but I need a portable laptop/mac with maximum battery life and storage to DJ live with a midi controller. Could u suggest whether a small mac is the best way forward for this setup?

Mac Minis are cheaper, yes, but they do not include a display, keyboard, mouse, superdrive, or speakers, and the specs are pretty low. So if you want you could get the Mac Mini with a bunch of cheap accessories and have it be like $800, but with a not as good user experience, or an iMac or laptop with all that built in/included and all of the stuff is the high end apple displays/mice etc. So I personally would not buy a Mac Mini, but I also would prefer higher specs.
