@Maryjoends Hey look I never said the United States is the center of the world, there are many parts of the world that I like with Spain being one of them but my point has nothing to do with Latin America or Spain, my point is that here in the United States there are many Latinos who have a unique identity being from a spanish speaking culture but being born and raised in the United States. I'm sure this happens in Spain as well, people who are born in Spain but are different ethnicity. Ole.
@MrBull419 I won´t say my opinion about your country, just because it´s yours and as I suppose, you are very proud of it. But don´t forget you are no longer the centre of the world. I thought at this time you´d have realized of that. As for the Latino identity, you are right, we are very far away from Latin America and they are as different from us as you, Americans. It´s a question of distance. But we´ll survive in our small country, thank you for your interest :).
@Maryjoends No I write America and the United States in capital letters because I put my country first and foremost. As far as you or Spain having nothing to do with us well I hope you know better than that, every country in the world has something to do with the United States for better or worse. Spain is very far from being perfect. Even many scholars, spanish scholars from Spain that teach here don't fully understand Latino identity in the United States but they're learning.
@MrBull419 The real fact is that (uncounsciously, I suppose) you write America and The United States with capital letters, but not Spanish nor Spaniard. That makes me think so much... Indeed "America is a world unto it´s own". We have nothing to do with you!!! :)
@Maryjoends That would be news to the over 50 million hispanics living in the United Sates who are either born in a spanish speaking country or are of Latin descent or as you say Hispanic descent. But in the United States if most people say a spanish person they don't mean a spaniard, they just mean a person from a culture that speaks spanish, America is a world unto it's own, buddy !
@tedtug The iberian peninsula is also composed by Portugal used to be know as Lusitania. Good luck in Paix Basque or Andaluzia trying to say to them that they are spanish.
@Maryjoends There are Native tribes still in the Americas, and guess what, they don't consider themselves Hispanic, they consider themselves Natives or by whatever name they go, because there are several after all. Look my opinions are based on facts, facts from archaeological books, facts from highly educated anthropologists, professors, and other teachers I've studied from at Universities, not some silly little article on Wikipedia. Again I don't understand the lack of common sense
@tedtug It´s not so easy . You forget the Native Americans from Southamerica, they are Hispanic too although they don´t have Spanish blood in their bloodline. By the way, all my respects for them and their amazing culture that has nothing to do with the Spanish one. Being Hispanic is not a question of blood.
@Maryjoends All I clearly stated were the differences between Latino and Hispanic, Hispanic people having Spanish blood in their bloodline, having ancestors from Spain, because Spain was known as Hispania, that's were the word originated from, and Latinos being people from countries who's official languages are Romance languages. Why do some people have such a hard time understanding that? For fucks sakes. Bitch about something else.
