CSX mixed freight train rolls through downtown Waxhaw, North Carolina along the Monroe Subdivision on a beautiful warm Saturday afternoon, November 28th, 2009. Passing North Church Street headed for South Carolina. Features 2 coil cars, which are about the most exotic freight cars I've gotten to see so far on this line. Got to love it when they adorn the poor things with mismatched grill covers. quite a few NS boxcars. Led by 2 locomotives, the YN2 color schemed brothers 373 and 135, both engine models CW44AC according to my bullsheet.com loco-pedia. The freight du jour of the day also included Cargill covered hoppers, an old Conrail marked hopper, sodium hydroxide solution tankers with a black and white saddle shoe type paint scheme and what looked like a Union Pacific reefer. The 1st coil car sported blue CSX and red Conrail covers. ADM corn syrup tankers pulled up the rear.

  • I was looking around wondering if you might have been there. Catching this one was just dumb luck, since we still have no scanner. Again, we were just in town shopping and meandering around. Lately the SC bound trains aren't giving as much warning. Normally I hear their horns so far in advance they must still be in Mineral Springs.

What type of scanner do you use?? I seriously want to know lol

  • You have got to be kidding me. I videoed the exact train at Hancock Rd by the signals!! We were driving around and I heard the conducter call out the signals where you were so I raced to the crossing closest to me which happened to be by the signals! The video will be up later today. I was wondering if you were there when I was leaving.

The ATCS wasn't working (and it won't be for several days) and it wouldn't show where trains where on the Monroe Sub so I was luck to be there at the right time
