Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, originally established in March 2005 for monitoring food safety in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, has since been expanded to include agriculture and animal husbandry under its wings. His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE and Minister of Presidential Affairs, is the chairman of the Authority's Governing Board.
The Authority plays a significant role in ensuring public health in the emirate through the formulation and implementation of policies, rules, regulations, standards and specifications with regard to the quality and safety of food in Abu Dhabi. In the sphere of agriculture, the Authority strives to foster modernized methods and practices in agriculture and animal husbandry while preserving the traditional character of this crucial sphere of national wealth and heritage. It also provides extensive veterinary services across the emirate to ensure the well being of the diverse forms of animal wealth and to support farmers and animal growers. Studies and research in all these fields are conducted by the Authority on a regular basis with a view to complement its regulatory and educative role with up-to-date know-how and scientific knowledge.
