@LetArtsLive drop D tuning is simply making your standard spanish (eadgbe) into a D chord. Try taking your giutar and tuning to an open D dropped by a half step. I hear Bo himself just had regular spanish with the 4th string dropped to an E, and then with all strings lowered half a step, but my crappy tuners on my el cheapo guitar are unable to get to this with a gear slipping. experiment with both.
