.X. ESSENTIAL EXPOSITION .X.
I made this video as a tribute to honor not just one, but all who lost their lives during the shooting that took place at Columbine High - a tragedy that, in the immediate wake of, I was still too young to fully comprehend. Many years later, after being introduced to the band Flyleaf and consequentially their song 'Cassie' - of which I chose to use to acoustic version due to its enhanced audible clarity - I felt compelled to make this video, even if it is many years after the fact. The passage of time does not eradicate the potency of the act - and whether you choose to remember the incident through live news coverage or a song that took you twenty some years to find, I hope people never forget what happened that day - and this is my attempt to ensure the longevity of those who died, which is not a dichotomy, but rather a sentence formed in order to make sure homage is paid unto the victims, if only in memoriam.
.X. SUMMARY .X.
I feel the need to assure the masses that I in no way, shape, or form, associate PROTOTYPE, it's creators, or the following gamers with the atrocities that were committed at Columbine. I simply used the character of Alex Mercer because he happened to be in possession of a hoodie and a rather irate looking visage. Let it be known I actually took an interest in the game, hence why I own numerous PROTOTYPE clips in the first place, and I have nothing against the publishing company or game designers. I had to cast somebody in the role, and I knew ahead of time I'd feel incredibly guilty about whoever I ended up allotting the responsibility to. I'll try to make a video at some later date that does not cast such a negative light on Alex, for I am well aware video games are not the sole culprit politicians like to blame for the violence that manifests itself among today's youth. If I were an advocate for the ban on video games, I would not have made a music video comprised entirely from clips ripped from, um - VIDEO GAMES. I assume that fact would be a given, but just incase it is not, I felt the need to include such.
That being said, I used Kairi in lieu of Cassie, and even though I am fairly certain the reference made to Cassie being a sister was meant to be symbolic (if it was not, please tell me - Lord knows I'm not infallible) I chose to interpret this line through the addition of Arcia from Chaos Legion, who I assigned as the fabled older sister. In doing so I tried to cultivate a semi cohesive plot line in which Arcia ventures through the trials of grief and acceptance - a process I fear I am fortunate enough to lack the experience to attest to, and a peace that is allegedly obtainable but lies in a realm well beyond my comprehension.
As for the ending that can be found after the credits: it was supposed to be an epilogue of sorts where, after a generous amount of time, Arcia also passes on and finds herself in heaven, where her sister can be found waving from the shores (older now, due to the passage of time - though I do not consider myself an expert when it comes to the process of ethereal aging - and depicted both forms of Kairi for continuity's sake: the age she passed on, as Arcia would remember her, and the age she would be now, had she not fallen victim to a terminal bullet.) This is why the movies fades on Arcia running towards 'the light' (or her sister - as I see it.)
I was unsure of how to convey the shooter's demise - but quickly realized that he is not the focal point of the story and therefore did not waste time on editing such things (though the scene where Alex throws himself off a towering edifice did lend itself quite readily to the shooter's own suicide - and I say such things for those of you not privy to the events of Columbine and were wondering how it all ended.)
I am also aware there were two shooters, multiple deaths, and a bunch of other details that I struggled to portray in the movie. The book 'She Said Yes' is available through Amazon, and I have included the link, along with the lyrics to the song and the band's official site, below.

In reality, Cassie never said "yes" to the question. She was never even asked the question. Neither was Rachael Scott. The girl who was asked the question actually lived. But regardless, it was a tragic event that cannot be blamed on one thing, like video games or whatever. We'll never truly understand why it happened, we just have to move forward.

God Of War, too, looks very promising, and I ended up purchasing the entire series - of which I have yet to play, so no spoilers, LOLZ!
Heavenly Sword (despite what the critics said) will forever remain one of my all time favorites, as will Drake's Fortune - and, of course, Tomb Raider, in all its various incantations. (Yes, even Angel Of Darkness ... I can't help myself sometimes.)
I believe that is the extent of my non-RPG's, ha ha. Final Fantasy actually owns a portion of my soul. XD

I have yet to indulge in a sandbox-esque game, or anything remotely open world, for I am /such/ a JRPG addict, and they tend to favor the linear path. I've always shied away from anything not classified as RPG, and any attempts I made to venture outside the genre would end rather poorly - never enough story line or character development.
However, PROTOTYPE looks very capable of changing that.
