NBA legends: Penny Hardaway

Otro de los muchos escoltas que han dejado su huella bien marcada en la NBA, pero uno de los pocos que triunfó en todas las franquicias que ha vestido. Un 2 típico del baloncesto americano; con buen tiro, gran capacidad de mate, excelente pasador en varias ocasiones y líder indiscutible en su equipo. Su nombre real en Anfernee, pero él ya ha explicado en varias ocasiones que el apodo de Penny se lo puso su abuela, que en castellano significa penique. Comenzó como jugador de baloncesto disputando sus dos primeros y únicos años en la NCAA como jugador de la Universidad de Memphis, donde no pasó para nada desapercibido. En el Draft de 1993, Hardaway acabó fichando por los Orlando Magic, en donde destacó más notablemente como baloncestista. En 1996, los Phoenix Suns se hicieron con sus servicios, pero lamentablemente en esa etapa empezó la mala suerte con las lesiones de rodilla, ya que le tubo apartado bastante tiempo de las canchas. Ya cuando parecía que no podía dar más de sí, Penny fue traspasado en 2003 a los New York Nicks, y tres años más tarde terminaria su carrera en los Miami Heat.

Are you all retarded? The only reason Penny became an avg player after '99 was his knee injury, and that, at the time, the microfracture surgery was still in it's infancy and players never were able to return to their former glory after said surgery. One thing I never liked about Hardaway tho, was his personality: wasn't meant to be a leader, seemed aloof and spearheaded a mutiny against his coach. Whatever, amazing talent, that sadly couldn't have a long career.
