WARNING: Disassembly and modify your gun at your own risk. I am not a professional gunsmith. In this video series, I fully disassembly, reassembly, and make a modification to my Sig P226. The modification takes place in part 5.

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You, Now I can dive into my P226 without springs jumping out without warning.

  • @gmikebrittain The only thing that is a major problem for flying off is the small magazine release catch pin and spring. Those 2 parts are tiny and will shoot all the way to the ceiling! I would recommended putting the whole gun inside a plastic bag or some such thing when removing or installing the magazine release (assuming you even need to remove it). Other than that, the whole process is pretty easy and nothing else is under that much spring pressure that it will fly off.

  • Ive shot and own Sig's and iven ever had a problem before. Hmm this vid made me think.

  • @bepopgreg I have huge hands and that may be part of my problem.... my massive phalanges are always banging into the levers!

  • thank you for making this video.

  • Had the same problem with my 225/p6. Took me awhile to figure it out... I was going to do a video on this...glad you did...

  • Very nice series of videos. I've owned my Sig P226 9mm Blackwater Tactical for over two years and I've never completely disassembled it (even after 3500+ rounds through it). With the help of your vids I'm going tackle it and give my pistol the good cleaning it deserves.

  • I love the part where kitty comes into frame, around 1:34, lol.

  • Great video. I might put a short trigger in my P229. Regarding your grip... shoot what works best for you. Thumbs down / thumbs forward is not right or wrong with an auto pistol (obviously one should not shoot thumbs forward with a revolver unless they want powder burns). Just go with the one that you shoot best with. Ayoob even says he shoots faster and straighter with his thumbs down. Also thumbs down leads to a little more grip strength which helps with retention in a combat situation.
