Kurt Kiergaard September 27, 1963- December 19, 2008 My sister Sarh Kiergaard, (with the help of Scottish Bob, Riley and a huge gathering of people who turned out to pay tribute 1 last time), sang Pink Floyds Wish You Were Here in a beautiful, moving and heartbreaking tribute to her husband of 12 years, Kurt, just 9 days after he died. Kurt was the most generous, warm hearted corageous man you could meet and it was a gift to know him and a huge loss for all that no longer have him in their lives. He made my sister amazingly happy for the time they were together and the amount of peoplethat turned up for his memorial is a testimony to what a wonderful person he was. Sarah, you did him proud. Rest in peace Kurt x
By Sarah Kiergaard- February 2009 - My husband, Kurt Kiergaard, a huge force behind the Space Art Family passed away on December 19 2008... He was only 45 years old. He had been sick with end stage liver disease for 3 years. While waiting for his chance at a transplant, doctors discovered cysts in his liver, which turned out to be cancerous. Because of this, we were told that he would never be eligible for the transplant and given 18 months to live. Being the lover of life that we all knew him to be, he opted for chemotherapy to lengthen that time span to two or more years. His liver failed completely two weeks later.... He died with his father, mother, sister, brother, daughter and I by his side. Kurt was more than my husband, he was my best friend, soul-mate and the one person I could truly confide in. He was my everything...... I can not believe I wont see him anymore or hear his voice. (taken from http://www.spaceartfamily.com/index.html)

OMG Sarah.. That was SOOO beautiful!
I flat out cried and Ali puddled up too. My hat is off to you for the courage it took to do such a Wonderful Tribute for Kurt! He was a wonderful man and a beautiful person and both Ali and I will miss him very much. The song 'Wish You Were Here' brought many calming thoughts to me while stationed in Fort Campbell, KY... when thinking about how much I missed my friends, family and loved ones!.. you have brought even more meaning to the song for me. What a beautiful way to honor Kurt.. He was for sure smiling upon us all. Even Tazzy felt it and he let us know by barking.. Now if I can just get past the first 30 seconds without balling all will be well..Sarah you are so loved by all of us and remember we are here for you always..Phil
