While system is broken and the elites are guilty, I'm not on board with OWS. The movement's direction is severely fractured and there are political orginazations taking part which I do not agree with in the least. All of them, politically to the left. I am afraid that it's possible to see communists use this opportunity to start another red revolution, and I'm not willing to play along to let them take advantage. I hear much leftist talk and folks aren't even aware their ideas are communist.

also, this idea that the people who already don't trust their government want that same government to have even more power (communism) is absurd. sure, maybe a couple of idiots, but most of us just want (at the very least) corporations to stop buying politicians and fucking the rest of us over.

there are other ways. civil rights had many big, non-violent influences like king and parks. non-segregation was not progressed through black people beating white people...it was the other way around, but the people became sympathetic to the cause through their simple non-violent pleas for compassion.

violence is an absolute last resort.

but there are laws to buy things like insurance, which is a product that is only offered by private firms whose entire purpose is to make as much profit as possible, no matter big or small.

If you feel a corporation is to large you still have the option to buy your items from a smaller one I don't recall any laws passed as a result of lobbying that required you to buy only coca cola.
