Much of the trial of Josef Fritzl is being held in secret. The court says this is to protect his victims. But many, including author Allan Hall, who has written extensively about the case, say Austria is afraid of revealing its dark underbelly.

  • According to that laws, it is forbidden to write the whole name "Fritzl", and you have to write "Josef F." instead. Nobody follows that rules, especially media from United Kingdom, who "abuse" the victims for a second time, so that they had to be locked in a hospital again, only to protect them from the reporters. I am really shocked by the lack of humanity of the media and that their lust of sensation doesn't even stop in such cases.

  • Does it even really matter how he is named?

Josef F, Fritzel, Its the same damn person.

So what is the media are pestering him?.. He should be lucky he isn't being publically hanged or stoned. He is an evil man and has no respect from me and im sure my many others. I will spit on the monsters grave! :)

  • @lukey123stratty its not about Josef, it's about his daughter, his wife and his grandsons. Media should have protected them. But they revealed the complete name.

  • This is not for his good, but in respect of the victims, who share the same name! Now, they had to change their names (which is also bad for your mental health), because if they keep their original name, they will always be referred as the "victims" and can never lead an as normal as possible life.

  • The media's interest is the last one which counts in this case! And-btw- one of the most famous professors of laws in Austria, Helmut Fuchs, said, that the Ladesgericht St. Pölten (the court) acts very professional and according to the law.

  • Sorry, but that is completely wrong. The StPO, the Austrian law how the process should go on, says that there is the possibility to exclude the public, and it has been used very often yet, because this is a principle in Austrian law. You look, what is more important: The public interest or the victims. In this case, the victims are without doubt much more important. On the other hand, there are laws which should protect the victims to be investigated by the press.

  • i agree with this man 100%. They are covering him up too much and it is not fair to Austrians and the rest of the world not to know what it was he did and how he did it in detail. Investigators have visited his home many times, and they are keeping it secret for what? Pricks.
