Sorry for delay. Took a while tro locate the book in the house. This pattern came from the book "Shop-Tested Scrollsaw Techniques" - by Wood magazine & Meredith Publishing Corp.; Published 1997; Pg 68-69; 'Old World Windmill' designed by Roy King. Great book.

It's plain old white Pine. I go to the local Home Depot and pick through their pine lumber until I find what I like. Easy to work with and has a decent look. I avoid anything that has been pressure treated.

No, they won't. It's quite safe to work that close to the project. Scroll Saw blades are not as dangerous as you might think. Search around the internet and you will find much information supporting that view. I have rarely come in contact with the moving blade, but when I have it was a non event. Shaving is far more dangerous.

Hey Frank, cool video, do you have a pattern for this project, would love to make that, Mrkaddan, getting close to the blade is sometimes neccesary, and when the speed is on a lower level, it wont even tear the skin,

sticking your fingers that close to the blade!! "If they break it can ruin your project" Your fingers can be ruined quite easily aswell <.<
