  • After open heart surgery and a kidney transplant in the last year (all of this after 8 years of dialysis), my wife and I are training to travel from Colorado to ride RAGBRAI this summer to rase funds for charity. This video is inspirational as I train on the indoor trainer right now - thinking this will be a great time, and happy for any pointers or tips you can share. This looks like an awesome ride!

  • Best of success with your recovery. I hope to see you at RAGBRAI this summer.

  • This was a blast to watch. Fantastic job on the editing, music selection and really creating and fun mood. I can't imagine how long it took to put this together - but whatever it was, it was worth it!

  • Thanks for your nice comments. Yeah, the whole process took months of planning. I fabricated three digital still cameras with intervalometers and mounted two of them on my bike for the 7 day ride. Each of the cameras shot one high resolution still image every 5 seconds. At the end of the ride, I had over 65,000 images to edit the video with. The tough part was I had to shoot all of it blind. I could not look through the viewfinder while riding.

  • Very cool. Well done.

  • Thanks. It was fun to shoot and fun to edit later. It was all done with small point-and-shoot still cameras mounted on my bike.

  • Great event, great social experience. I don't think, though, people do this for the scenary which seemed devoid of any luster.

  • @zeekle Thanks, you too.

  • yo cop, get meh some donuts

  • I'm a police officer, RAGBRAI came through my town in 08, it was a blast!!!

  • People in iowa are so nice!

  • That looks like a blast, and a good way to get together with a bunch of people.

Thank you for sharing it with everyone, and good job on composting the video as well.

  • Thanks for your sentiment. I was concerned that the ridership of RAGBRAI would be down this year due to the economy, but I was wrong. RAGBRAI was as big as I've ever seen it. Heck, it is a great, inexpensive way to spend a week's adventure vacation.

  • That is so awesome. I want to do that. When is it?
