Part 1 of the "rude mechanicals" scene from the 2004 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at Loyola College. Directed by Charlie Mitchell. Set design by Joseph B. Musumeci.

The concept for the production was that the young lovers were soap opera stars who run away to Central Park and the fairies they encountered were statues that come to life at night. In this scene, the production crew for the tv show put on a play for the actors in the park - badly.

  • Whatever you do in your reading, make a strong choice. And if the auditioner gives you an adjustment ("try it like this"), make sure you really commit to it. Directors like to see you transform in those moments to make sure you can take direction.

  • @PPSTrailers: I actually love Bottom's beard. If you recall, In Act One he asks Quince: "What beard were I best to play it in?" This is a nice little call back. And, because it's Bottom, The beard is comically large.

  • I'm not sure I love Bottom's beard. But the wall and moonshine were great.
