Ben took a 'close to production' N900 and shot a video of the Nokia Booklet 3G testing video playback as a measure of the device's processing power.

  • This video is outdated, which is no surprise considering it's half a year old, but still worth mentioning.

The latest Intel GMA 500 drivers support hardware video decoding, and together with the Flash Player 10.1 beta (the final release will happen in a few months), the videos on youtube will play very smoothly.

  • @burkmat Thanks for the feedback - as you say this was filmed some time ago (this was a pre-release unit I looked at in between shooitng it in a virals campaign). I'll have a production unit soon to look at.

  • I'm ABLE to play 1080p HD (1920x1080 resolution picture) smoothly on my Booklet 3G. Processor load: ~42%.

To videoposter: update your videoadapter drivers to the latest ones.

  • The question was not about playing local footage - it was about streaming flash video from sites like YouTube and Vimeo.

You did check out how long-ago this was posted, yes?

  • Do you mind trying to install this next application "Dell Dock"? from the Dell's web site, it's a customizable dock for vista and 7, but I'd like to know whether it works on the nokia blooklet.

I'll really appreciate if you respond this comment.

    Thanks in advance

  • We don't have this prototype device any more.

  • wow, that is pretty freaking horrible, I was about to buy one of these but not if it can't even do youtube video

  • @ewwang to be honest - the device from stock is pretty slow.

    But.

It is all about it's 4700 rpm HDD, which is terribly slow.

If you upgrade it to an SDD - you'll get completely new, fast and responsive machine.

  • @Nazalur In your experience with the device, would you say it is laggy or slow?

  • I just played with one of these at my Seattle Best Buy but didn't have my activated SIM card to test 3G.

Yes build quality seems real nice in the hand and you can dress up the housing all you want its not going to change the fact its still an Atom based netbook w/ limited resources = POS.

I claim bull shit on the 12 hour battery life claim. Get real full screen brightness and constant 3G is more like 4 H tops maybe?

A pitty: "1.5Ghz Z530 won't run Aero on W7... nor HQ fullscreen Youtube.."

  • oh dear let me correct my self FUCKING ASSHOLES!

  • i believe that it's assholes (as in word of offense) not ass holes... (witch are 2 separate words ass and holes) greetings
