  • America is in a recession? Oh.. okay lets build an at-home A10 simulator.

    XD

  • @slugggg513 Just doing my part to pull us out of the recession ;) If everyone in America will build one, I think we just might pull through this together! Vote mc78inc for president in 2012!!!! I promise to offer major tax incentives for all cockpit building projects!

  • hi, cool displays. but what about the smaller screen you had? is that a laptop or something? how u did that?

    thanks!

  • @RaymondXI That is just a 24 inch LCD put sideways to display the right MFCD on. I used Hawgtouch to allow usage of the buttons surrounding it.

  • Awesome setup. I'm a fellow DCS A-10C pilot myself. Just curious though, what graphics card or cards are you running? I'm about to finally put the money down for a three screen pit and the only thing holding me back is what GPU to go with.

  • @rynpaulbert I used 2x GTX 460's However I do not suggest them. If I were you I would go with a Radeon 6990 the eyefinity and dual gpu will get you much nicer fps than I get, in multiplayer my fps gets unplayable at times. If you can not afford the 6990 the 6970 is the best alternative.

  • Three 52" tellys? Do you live in tottenham by any chance?

  • @DOZanq The wings don't actually point forward - this is a result of perspective. The televisions are angled to look correct from where he's sitting (as if he's in the cockpit), but due to the different view point (where the video camera is actually located), the perspective is distorted and appears squashed/bent. Think of it as if your peripheral vision suddenly squashed to a third of your vision. Things that normally appear on your side would 'point forward' and look awkward.

  • @mc78inc finally, a actual reason to vote!

  • Intrigued by the views you are getting here, as I also run 3x24" in eyefinity.

I'm pretty sure the distorted view that you are getting ie: the wings looking like they are pointing forward in the side screens, is because you have it setup to run as 3 screens in your DCS A-10C in game Options setup.

Try it with it set for one screen, and I think you will find it looks more natural and the join between your screens won't be crooked. :)

  • Sweet! I am building with 3x 55" and 3x 23" (for virual panels) at the moment but my problem Is that one should have 1gb per monitor video memory to not suffer low fps. Adding a card doesn't make use of the additional video memory so I have to get a 590 3GB I guess or wait until nvidia's new monster comes out in a very few month. Anyone here with a gtx590 that could gimme an idea of FPS in DCS?

  • @mc78inc is my dad

  • @mc78inc I just bought two MSI Lightning 6970's. Card has 2GB of ram so I think I should be good (: Thank's for the response mc. The only thing I'm waiting on is finally my Warthog to come in!

  • @coldllogic Yes. But what about a an LCD s (?? I'm no expert) screen, like the ones used for computers, but spherical, or almost, with a programme that would make the adjustments due to the warp of the screen? Like I said, I'm no expert, it's just an idea.
