Aaron Houston, Director of Government Relations at the Marijuana Policy Project (MPP), questions John Walters on whether prior marijuana use should disqualify an individual for public office at the ONDCP's press conference for the release of the 2007 National Survey on Druge Use and Health.

  • @283inc Google "government abuse of power". There are very real reasons for people's "phobia".

  • @283inc Are you implying that the drug use itself becomes criminal? I ask this because we already have laws against theft, rape, murder, fraud, and other forms of violence. Not all users commit the crimes you mention. I think there should be a legal distinction between drug use and the violent behaviors that some people do. If someone wants to smoke a joint, what's the crime? If someone assaults another for drugs, then ASSAULT is the crime, not drug use.

  • Hey John .... how bout the 46 people in Oklahoma which are serving life sentences for marijuana possession?

  • It is really sickening that the government and especially those who stand to lose if cannabis is legalized will not look at scientific fact. The people have already legalized marijuana, we are just waiting for the government to catch up.

  • this guy is an idiot

  • John Walters is a douchebag.

  • "Prohibition will work great injury to the cause of temperance. It is a species of intemperance within itself, for it goes beyond the bounds of reason in that it attempts to control a man's appetite by legislation, and makes a crime out of things that are not crimes. A Prohibition law strikes a blow at the very principles upon which our government was founded."

    Abraham Lincoln (1809-65), U.S. President.

  • @davetista sad when this is the case. sad that kids can get cannabis so easily. sad that politicians wont admit it's their own system that creates this situation.

  • John Walters is already a dinosaur. The only thing I agree with him on is that kids shouldn't use it. Many of my friends are total burnouts because they didn't wait until they were 18. The most burnt-out one started toking at ten.

  • The truth of the matter is that there are more people smoking marijuana today than 5 years ago, young people as well as people over the age of 50 are smoking marijuana and John Walters is a Dinosaur.

    .....

I am not a pot smoker but I don't begrudge those who wish to partake, I also don't smoke cigarettes but don't wish to take their right to smoke if they wish.

  • Hey, John! We found a unicorn!
