Not sure why the sub is burning. Are you mixing the shellac yourself? If so maybe you are putting in too much mtho and not enough shellac flakes. It should be a warm brown thin liquid. Make sure you have amber shellac as well.

Hey Mo.. I was expecting the surface to flame right up. I've seen others do so, why didn't yours. Such a cool piece, Mo.. love it.

judy the wet shellac burn is the one where it flames up, you attack this as the shellac is still wet. In this process(above) you allow the shellac to dry on your surface before going to it with the blow torch.
