John Russell and friends attended the August 21, 2009 Anti- Health Reform Protest in order to educate and inform those in attendance.

Conversations with the protesters confirmed our suspicion that many in attendance had been sorely miss-informed by the likes of FOX News and Rush Limbaugh.


Interestingly once the details were spelled out on what would constitute an appropriate/legitimate Public Option, there was surprising agreement in the benefits of such a program (Medicare for All), when the fog of Corporate propaganda was dissected and dismissed through intelligent discourse.

Though some were purely ideological, and were clearly fearful of change, others became rational and amenable to the simple reason of fact when carefully explained. This conversation clearly demonstrates this point.
I oppose the Baucus Grassley Bill which is an Insurance Industry concoction of the worst order... This Senate Bill preferred by Rahm, is as deplorable morally and reprehensible ethically as are the "Corporatist" designs upon which it was authored.

BAD for the ordinary citizen while GUARANTEEING even FATTER Profits for the INSURANCE Industry!

There are about three in the House and two in the Senate w/ the Finance Committee Bill authored by Baucus/Grassley according to sources (C Todd) being the one favored by Rahm. This Bill is a TOTAL POS/GIFT TO the INSURANCE INDUSTRY!

How do we have a choice? the expansion of medicare will cost us trillions, and kill the dollar. We'll have a choice - pay once or pay twice.

socialism is like a bad habit - you can drink some, smoke some, drug some, and you'll get away with it - but if you do too much of that, you die. same with having too much socialism, medicare taking over the health care industry. Canada is starting to reverse course, more and more private health care over there cuz their govt program is overburdened.

John was not promoting chemo, he's was just giving example *if that's what someone wants) that with Medicare, you do have free choice of what doctor and what kind of therapy. I have doctors that support me doing alternative treatments I pay out of pocket for but Medicare covers lab and doctor monitor how I am doing and I have low affordable co-pay. Everyone should have a right to this and get help before end up at hospital in catostrophic crisis situation
