I am starting a formula feeding series and decided to do this tag series Enjoy! Please no hateful/mean comments about formula. I use Similac soy formula. In no way am I trying to influence what brand of formula anyone uses and in no way affliated with the company Similac.

  • wow 12-13oz?! i pumped for 30mins and from both breasts together only got 1/4oz-1/2oz at a time. i was so upset because i pumped 12 times a day for 6 weeks and it was still a very little amount. not even the hospital grade pump would pump out more! it actually pumped out less than my pump at home. lol i'm hoping i will be able to produce more next baby. does the soy formula smell bad? bailey uses smililac and it stinks! lol

  • yes the soy formula smells awful! Sorry you could not breastfeed that must have been extremely difficult pumping that many times a day for such a little amount! Hopefully next time you will able to produce more.

  • My daughter's son is still exclusively breastfed at 8 and 1/2 months. But--he was small and had a rough birth --so they did supplement him with "Enfamil A+" for the first 3 days until her breastmilk was established. He tolerated it fine. Now--my daughter-in-law supplements with the occasional bottle and uses the Enfamil A+. I figure if a hospital that promotes breastfeeding uses that one--then it should be pretty good! It DOES say on the can--closest to breastmilk!

  • yea thats what the similac advanced shield in the blue can says too so thats why I tried that first but she hated it.

  • Hmm---Probably a lot harder for little Ella to make the adjustment to ANY kind of formula after having only breastmilk for so long! Glad you found one she does like and that agrees with her!

Yeah--the soy DOES smell worse than the regular one! But--what are ya gonna do! If ya have to use it --you have to use it! LoL!

  • yes I would rather have a formula she likes even if it doesn't smell so pleasing to me lol

  • I probably wouldn't ask my paediatrician because I wouldn't dare to tell them that I don't breast feed.

  • I had a lot of problems with breast feeding after Derek was a month old. I dried up. Derek was allergic to the formula soy and the milk based. So I had to put him on the hyper allergenic. He had bad collic and puked for several hours after feeding with both soy and milk based. I'm so glad we found something that worked. Glad you did too

  • Also----for moms who want to breastfeed. Don't panic if it is VERY hard at first! I really admire the way my daughter's hositial does it! Even though her baby was ALWAYS sleeping--he was still offered the breast first at every feeding! Then she pumped while I gave him an ounce of formula. Whatever she pumped was refrigerated. Next feeding--breast offered first--then i gave him what she had pumped mixed with formula. By day 4 she was pumping 3oz-- enough to exclusively breastfeed him!
