I just don't agree with the early date for the book of Revelation but I respect those that say it comes from the 60s AD.

The number 666 represents the Roman Papal System in prophecy. The position of Pope being the very centre. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work that out. Indeed a large part of our entire history has been dominated directly and indirectly by this power, from which it receives from Satan himself. Just one of the many titles given to the Pope, Vicarius Fili Dei , when calculated in Greek,Latin and Hebrew totals 666. There are many other verifiable evidences leaving no one in doubt!

The relevant solution is that the beast who is marked 666 is all mankind and it is relevant to the Bible--not the world. The challenge is to calculate the number, which is 666. The 1st calc is in Genesis I, when the count for evening, morning, and day was 666. Mankind was created in this image on the 6th day. Therefore all mankind is marked with a 666. There also 3 other calcs in the Bible for 666. Look up bible mathematics in youtube and you will see the title, "The 666 Mark of the Beast.avi.

The prophecy about the beast and his number 666 pertains to that generation when this prophecy was revealed to John. The prophecy makes perfect sense when viewed this way as opposed to interpreting it as a future event. The prophecy was a judgment on the nation Israel for killing the prophets and the Son of God, and a vindication for the christians who held on to the end of that great tribulation. The difference is between how we define or measure "good" and how God defines and measures good.

There is another possibility. I have seen it written in Greek with letters as numeral Khi=600, Ksi=60, Digamma/Stau/Final-sigma=6 and the word 'Arithmos' means 'Reckoning', 'Code' as much as it does 'Number'. Abbreviations are commonly first and last letter or first two letters and last (the last usually Sigma - C) XC in this case won't do because it stands for XRICTOC - Khristos. But Khi-Ksi-Stau means nothing.

616 is Khi-Iota-Stau. That could stand for a word. I can only find Kaimeros, Goat.
