Arma 2 - Operation Arrowhead: Insurgent Ambush

This was an extremely fun mission to make! I started off taking the perspective of the ambushed UN soldiers, but I later realised the mission seemed a bit more cinematic if I took the role of the insurgents.

The mission revolves around an IED attack taking out the first of a 3 car UN convoy, and then the insurgents ambushing the surviving vehicles. A fierce firefight breaks out, and soon enough US soldiers arrive on the scene to back the UN guys up, and the insurgents flee.

(The insurgents genuinely did run away completely on their own account, they realised the US were way stronger so they ran off)

The music is from the Ink Soundtrack, and is called Johns Walk.

p.s:

When I was first developing the mission as a UN soldier, the most awesome thing happened. After the first car exploded, our car came under light machine gun fire. The driver was hit, and I saw his head slump over the wheel. He was shot whilst on the throttle, and the car veered off into a rock and flipped over several times.

We all scrambled out the car, and as I ran away an RPG flew in and absolutely obliterated it. The most awesome AI experience I have ever had, I was so sad that I didn't record it!

Wow this soundtrack is such a ripoff of John Murphys "The surface of the sun" from the Sunshine soundtrack.

I dont think it suits a small scale skirmish. The music hints at epic scale.

Lol it's not a rip off at all, I have the full soundtrack album from both movies, both are amazing, and both are very different. I know these 2 particular songs are similar, (and no doubt this version is inspired), but they are quite different.

You should download the soundtrack for Ink, you will see it's actually very, very different to sunshine, and has an extremely unique soundtrack compared to most movies.

how do u get them to wait for the IEDbefore they fire for me they just start shooting as soon as their in range

I set a trigger, so that they would stay in stealth mode until the vehicles were in a certain range. Once in range they opened fire on the vehicles.

It's very simple, but quite long to explain. Look on bohemia interactive forums for loads of info :)
