Vera-Ellen, in my opinion, the greatest dancer in the history of Hollywood and Broadway, was only 60 years old when she succumbed to throat cancer in 1981. She also suffered from anorexia. To learn the whole story, read "The Magic and the Mystery Vera-Ellen" by David Soren. Cheers!

she died in 1981, so she wasn't that young. and from what I've read, it was cancer related not necessarily anorexia related-though she did suffer from it.

She was a real legend of the musicals, and you dont often see dancers that do many dance forms and still have perfect form in all of them, and you dont often see that color on pointe shoes either its rare.

Such a great performer to have died prematurely from anorexia-related causes.
Supposedly she had the smallest waist in Hollywood at 20 inches.
