@cain2335 PS How does Nadal make a living. It is by kicking his ball high to opponents backhands to push them back the way kick servers are trying to do. How does Joker handle this and manage to beat him well it is not as Nirky says by staying back Joker moves up to hit it. He can do this because he has a good high strike zone backhand. Agassi would have bone the same.

@cain2335 I always moved up the problem with Pete here is he expected the the serve to the T and got body served. Had the serve been to the T he would have been all over it. Macs comment I thought was out of place he used the same ploy as Pete tried all the time. What made this kick serve (LOOK) so good was Pete surprised by the placement and got jammed not because of the kick.

@Nirky I,m with MahMohm. I too was a good college player although back with wood so going to the net was easier before the monster ground strokes. I always moved up to return kick serves. I also had a mean kicker to keep my opponents back but the good returners came up to hit my kick or I would be all over them at the net. Pete was a little too aggressive expecting it to be severed to the T and got body served or he would have had a good chance at doing what he was trying to do.

@Nirky actually you and mahmohm are both correct. your definition of a kicker is right, but mahmohm is right when he says to move in closer before it bounces high AKA taking it early. sampras did this for years off of second serves a lot better than this, as did agassi (kind of expected with him)

@freedomrace1 it's not like federer's second serve is amazing. 95-105 kicker is pretty standard. he's been coming in on second serves that are better than that for years

did he say call of duty...?

Pete was way to ambitious coming in on a second serve from Fed. what was he thinking, return and volley? well, he's still amazing so he can do whatever the hell he wants to do

@reyortsed1 Whenever Federer Kick Serves, the 2nd to last second goes bye bye
-
@vlegaspi A kick serve is the safest serve one could hit.

Sampras was 4 feet inside the baseline, just as you wanted him to be, and Fed's kick serve was shoulder height when it got to him.
He whiffed on it.
Did you want Sampras to be even closer to the service line? If so, exactly where?
A kick serve is designed to keep the returner back, to stop the returner from taking advantage of a less powerful second serve.
where is the 37th second??

@181erob its a compliment.. the cartoon is extremely exaggerated so for federer to achieve the same thing that is achieved in a cartoon is profound
