so say it all....i don't like Ubuntu natty...to be honest it has its own coolness but that's it....the upper bar cant be customise like the good old 10.10 and below...i just want the freedom to put something in that bar and around desktop..when using compizconfig, suddenly all the thing in the bar gone..mmm..I have to restart Natty to gain menus again.
not to friendly to the user..all and all it's only my opinion.

Tried 11.04 for a month: too many ways to do one thing, slower than 10.10, banshee is much slower (unstable) than rhythmbox if you have a lot of files, unity really sucks if you don't have the exact resolution it wants, in the upgrade a user's screen settings are removed,(kinda important) , menu bars can't be changed .
Win7 is more responsive than Natty on my laptop whereas 10.10 was quicker than Win7.
In the attempt to make it 'simple' pretty it' has become more difficult and cluttered.

@rockyscarlet If you want my honest opinion, go with Linux Mint!

I enjoy using Unity. I really like it compared to default Ubuntu. I just don't like how it doesn't work with some things, and it sometimes freezes.

I was not impressed by natty. I removed and installed 10.10.

I installed it and i managed to screw it up in just a few hours XD
I screwed it up with CCMS or whatever its called... wanted to get the rotating box
Gonna install it again this weekend. I think i'll keep the settings on default this time :D
It looks nice but i've been reading a lot of bad comments.
Is it really that bad?
What distro should I choose then?

@rockyscarlet eh, it's a matter of opinion. I don't mind Unity so much, to be honest, but if you end up not liking it, it's entirely possible to install a new desktop environment on top of Ubuntu, or reinstall using one of the preconfigured CDs (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, etc.)

lol i switched to crunchbang linux cuz not everybody likes unity...

@alexatasi there's always the option of just switching the desktop environment, not the whole distro, if you'd prefer to stick to Ubuntu.

Switched to Fedora 15. Got everything working well and Gnome 3 is incredible. I also like that I didn't really have to change it too aestheticly, but Java and Flash were/are much more annoying to install..

@ioioi210 if you haven't looked at it yet, you might be interested in EasyLife for Fedora.
Of course, it's not terribly difficult to get Gnome Shell/Gnome 3 on Ubuntu if you're interested in that as well. There's a PPA and it's just a couple of commands.
