The Tamworth breeders have been at the Oak Grove since May 2010. Maximum to date, 3 or 4 full size animals. Oak woods plus small paddocks. Two paddocks, 1 acre and 1/3 acre, were roto tilled October 2010, for the first time ever. Previously just part of cattle pasture of native grasses, moss, thistle, and tansy. Started the pigs about the first of January. I planted the winter paddock in organic, but not certified, locally grown Winter Wheat, plus conventionally grown Austrian Pea, and tiny bit of Kale.

Hello again - I've posted a couple videos - perfect afternoon sun today. This is barely over an acre. I have another little section, maybe another 1/2 acre. But that one is a circle - so now I get to play with figuring out a pie rotation. First time ever I've planted at this rented property. Just now buying at 1/2 ton price - much better. They say 7 #s/day for adult maint. - a bit less here - looks like more but it's fairly light - rolled oats and barley plus mineral.

  • Hey thanks for the comment - the short answer - 2 hour!! to finish the strip!! But let me get back to you later with more details - I'm a truck driver today - transporting two cows for some people - and I will get paid - that helps!! PS - love the hedgehogs!!

  • I love the simplicity of just moving that fence along.

I have just a few questions.

How long will it take the pigs to finish off that new strip?

How many acres do you need for the 3 pigs?

Do you need to buy in much feed for them?
