  • You're right! In fact, it's a choice of the dancers for this reconstruction. On the video the dance is not full, but we dance three "entrées" ("grand rond", "tour une main" and "tour deux mains"), so wee have to repeat the chorus three times, and to vary, on the first chorus we do only the sides of the square, on the second the "dos a dos", and at the end the full figure (" dos à dos" and the sides). We have another video of french contredanse on Youtube "Les Babillardes".

  • Interesting. I am wondering what sources you used for this reconstruction. The version in de la Cuisse (1762) shows the two middle couples doing a 'dos a dos' figure (rather than remaining immobile in the centre) while the other couples go round the sides of the square, then the 'contrepartie'. Do you do any other dances from the same collection?

  • salut! tres bonne. j'aime la music et danse
