You're right - it really depends on the baby and their shape. We had a lot of newborn clothes too - I'd say my daughter was in them for about 2 months. She was born 7 lbs 10 oz. But we went through those clothes over and over again. Between spit ups and poopy diaper explosions, we changed her outfit at least once or twice a day. Keep the stuff, but keep the tags on them too!

lets assume you have an 8lb baby, your looking at about 1 month for newborn cloths. maybe month and a half :)
