Sen. Bernie Sanders hosted single-payer health care advocates and joined them at a meeting he arranged Wednesday with Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.), one of the lead architects of health care legislation the Senate will likely consider this summer. Sanders has introduced the Senates only single-payer health care plan.

  • Fantastically said as always Mr. Sanders.... I like the part about the grassroots efforts being in a struggle of ending this type of lobbying!

  • @trinsic1 So here's the deal. I'm designing a car. It costs $25,000. I'm not finished with designing it, but if you sign a five year loan contract I'll keep working on it and get it to you when I'm done. OK?

Sounds crazy, doesn't it? Well then why would you be OK with the same thing when it comes to something as important, personal and permanent as your healthcare?

  • @7jerryv7 Name one person who says that anyone should be "barred" from health care. Just one. I bet you can't even make up a name with a straight face.

  • @trinsic1 My God, man! How can you put so much faith in such a corrupt group of people?! And what do you mean that there are people in congress that are trying to get it right. They said it WAS right! don't you understand? Once something like this gets started, there is NO turning around! Once this was passed, there is no way to just change it on a whim! It's the LAW NOW! If it wasn't right to begin with, it won't EVER BE! That's why it was so important to be done in the open WITH the GOP!

  • @fjwjr, obviously if the new bill it doesnt change the cost of health care for people who are low income, then we will be right back to the drawing board when there is a serious backlash from the public when costs done change. Im not working about the details right now, I know there are people in congress that are trying to get it right. Its not government thats the problem is capitalistic interests that try to steal money and distort the true meaning of what government is trying to do.

  • @fjwjr I didnt say free, you said it. I said people need help who cant pay for it and the brunt of the costs should go to the people that can afford it and less of the cost to those who cant.

  • @trinsic1 WHAT?! Did you really say that?! Don't you think the details should have been worked out in ADVANCE?! On the first day things started to fall apart! Now they're telling us that EVERYONE is going to be paying. No matter how rich or poor, you are going to be paying with EVERY purchase that you make!

On the one hand you say that those who are not well off need free coverage, but then you are ok with taxing them on everything they purchase right down to toilet paper. Unbelievable!

  • @fjwjr I do realize how its going to be paid for. We are going to have to work that out in more detail as we go along. The point is we all need healthcare and the people that are well off should help the people that are not by putting more into the system so everyone can have coverage.

  • @trinsic1 Yes and no. Yes, it's not free. Thank God someone finally gets it!

And no, it's not paid for by everyone based on their level of income. You just don't realize all the little ways you are going to be taxed other than income tax. Every tax increase to a "rich" business gets passed on to you, the consumer. No matter what your income is. Now they're talking about a VAT tax(you pay for that) because the deficit is unsustainable. Wait a minute, I thought this bill would reduce the deficit

  • @fjwjr you sound pretty selfish, thats the same argument that all of selfish people make. I dont want to pay for someone elses health care. you know what? to bad we are all in this together and we need to help each-other. If you dont want to do that move to your on island where you can be by yourself, see how long that lasts.
