Video refers to an interview with Gayle & Oprah in which Gayle says she "loves" Jay-Z's lyrics. Oprah asked if she meant the beat and Gayle was emphatic that she meant the lyrics. It is fine to respect him as a businessman and humanitarian, but to love the lyrics is to support the music that represents what her and Oprah's movement has been against-namely misogyny. This is problematic. Post concludes by stating that from Bil O'Reilly to Oprah, this entire push to clean up the music was a big lie because these musicians still end up on their shows while positive rappers are struggling.
Gayle and Oprah love and respect MONEY! Oprah expressed how she did not want rappers on her show, yet we see Jay-Z on her show. We all know Jay-Z has ties to President Obama and corporate America. At the end of the day, these people do not care about about positive messages. It's all about status and money.

He is a great asset. Did scholars call William Faulkner misogynistic: In a Rose for Emily he wrote, "Emily is unflattering: she is a small, fat woman in black who looks bloated, like a body long submerged in motionless water, and of that pallid hue. How about that!

sooo true! I wish everyday for more positive music, especially rap- but as you said, it seems like the negative stuff keeps getting promoted. Granted Jay-Z produces some good things and does humanitarian work, but what about Big Pimpin? Society should break down those lyrics and have a talk about how horribly negative they are toward women.
Thanks for this video- keep it up :)
