How to Play Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix

This is the intro to little wing as close to how i think hendrix would have played it as possible.(yes i realize i'm not playing it on a strat...bills had to be paid) although it's akward, try using the thumb for as many bass notes as possible, even the gnarly a minor reach at the end.. i referenced the tabs from the official score, and made slight changes after listening through headphones. the phrasing is the real challenge. make sure you're solid with the rhythm. let me know if something sounds wrong,. or if you need any further explanation., or if you want me to show you something else all together. have fun..

An excellent instruction vid for one of the all-time classic tunes. I love Hendrix' rhythms, with all the double stops. Is that an accurate depiction of the finish on on your PRS? If so, it's gorgeous, like sparkling blue water - unlike many other guitars you see with that trans blue finish, which look like faded ink.

Good lesson. You're damn right it's awkward with the thumb in the bass. This song always seems to make my tendonitus worse but it's worth it so I'm re-learning it. Cheers.

@ebranner No, I haven't seen that Hendrix vid yet. I'll be sure to check it out. There are a couple on here that are really great: one with him playing "Watchtower" live, and another titled "Hendrix' Greatest Solo" (I think). As for the guitar, I'd love to have an SG or a "super strat" with that kind of rich, vibrant blue color. Man, finding a guitar that's just right in every way is harder than hell....lol
