Ismael El-Shafei sounds familiar. He won his title when Laver did not play grand slams because he was "professional". Not to demean his championship, but it is has to be noted that it was won when Laver and other greats could not play. Remember, Laver won his two grand slams in 1962 and 1969.
Squash game as the People Call it "The Game of The Kings" No wonder Why all The International Media gave the EGYPTIAN legend "Amr Shabana" This Title "The Prince of EGYPT"!
So True EGYPT is at the Top of Squash Cause our EGYPTIAN Squash Players are the Champions of the World beside the EGYPTIAN legend "Amr Shabana" and "Rami Ashour" now we have also "Karim Darwish",Ofcourse EGYPT has a legend in Tennis like "Ismail El-shafei" who is the Member of the International Tennis Federation and he Won Wimbledon Championship in1964 and was the 2nd in 1963 But Cause the Squash game is the Most Popular in EGYPT than Tennis we Won Many Titles and made many achievements in it!
I am fairly new to squash. It sounds like Egypt is currently at the top of squash.
Just curious, has Egypt ever produced any top tennis players? I am American - Agassi, Sampras, McEnroe, Connors, etc. are American legends. However, non American players like Laver, Federer, Borg, Lendl and Edberg, Becker, etc. are admired as well.
The Prince of Egypt "Amr Shabana" he is a legend and the world champion also the Egyptian "Rami ashor" is 2nd the world in squash, but I`m little disappointed where`s videos about our Egyptian women world champions like "Omneya Abdel Kawy","Raneem El Weleily" and"Engy Kheirallah" WoW what This Great land Egypt!!
I saw Shabana playing when he was only starting as a professional.. I just became Dutch Junior Champion and I was a major fan from the beginning of his career. I knew that he would become world number one some day. Guess I was right...... Shabana is a great squashplayer with a good sense of humor on and of court.
