"About the Grand Rapids Kroc Center

The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is a 20-acre education, recreation and cultural arts and worship facility. Made possible by a substantial gift from the late philanthropist Mrs. Joan Kroc, as well as the generous support of individuals, organizations and families throughout West Michigan, the Center provides a variety of programs for individuals of all ages. The community center is open to all West Michigan families.

The Salvation Army Mission Statement

The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by love for God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination.

Kroc Center Mission Statement

In keeping with the mission of The Salvation Army, The Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center provides facilities, programs and services that encourage positive, life-changing experiences for children and adults, strengthen families, and enrich the lives of seniors.

Our Vision

Our vision is to see individuals of all ages, creeds and nationalities discover their natural giftedness and potential through Education, the Arts, Sports and the development of the spirit by providing a campus of opportunity in a holistic, Christ-centered atmosphere.

Who Were Ray and Joan Kroc?

"I want you to believe that a life of service is a happy one to lead. Serve others joyously and your reward will be great; carry with you the message of charity and brotherly love." - Joan Kroc

If you've ever eaten at a McDonald's restaurant, you were indirectly supporting a number of charities like The Salvation Army, the Ronald McDonald House and St. Vincent de Paul. That's because McDonald's founder Ray Kroc and his wife, Joan, were generous philanthropists."
