HOW DO YOU DO THIS IN GARAGEBAND?!!?
-
— TOUCH (allows recording during playback with modified parameters switching back to their original value after a certain amount of time you can set in your preferences)
— LATCH (same as TOUCH but does NOT switch back to original values and remains at the last value entered)
— WRITE (simply always records any change made and overwrites everything, to be handled very carefully, bro)
...but perhaps you knew all this already — anyway, its worth sharing because it helped me alot when i found out.
-
you might also wanna know exact meanings of the different automation modes to be selected in the channel-strip:
— OFF (all parameters remain unaltered throughout playback unless modified manually, recorded data will of coruse NOT be played back int his mode)
— READ (simply reads automated data and changes made during playback will be set to recorded or hyper-drawn values after stop)

OMG THANK YOU !!! ive had this problem for ages and could not figure it out, u are the master seb rocks, and thanx happy for ptting the video out so i could learn this
hey i just learned this yesterday in my music technology class...
just click automation at the top and then click on the track that u want to record the effects on... you will see a button in the arrangement window (right under volume but on the left side) that if u click it says "write", "touch", "latch", and "read". You click on "touch". and then u hit the record button and your set.
you can only do this once you have your track already recorded, so the effects come afterwards.hope this helps

All you're doing when you're moving that bar is modifying the 'instrument'.
In order to make the rate change during the duration of the song, you have a few options:
Look up a guide on automating the wobble rate.
What I did when I started making tracks was this:
You can make several Instrument Tracks, each with a different rate, then record the specific notes you want to pair up with each rate. You'll get the same effect.
